Wednesdays with Writers

This week we are departing a little from our normal routine here at the Writing Center (Does anyone have one of those anymore? If so, can we borrow it?) and instead of recommending another writer for you to read, we are recommending 42 possibilities.

It’s a “choose your own adventure” type post this week.

For those of you that want to really lean into this whole pandemic atmosphere, you know, those of you who have by now streamed all of the catastrophe/epidemic/post-apocalyptic goodness out there and still want more, may we present for your consideration Vanity Fair‘s list of eleven books you might want to check out.  It ranges from classic writers like Camus to Colson Whitehead who was featured in our Wednesdays with Writers series last fall.  You can also check out some vampire fiction and Daniel Defoe’s 1772 work, Journal of the Plague Year.

If the new reality is enough reality for you already, we have a list for you, too–also from Vanity Fair.   This list contains 31 distractions for you.  This list includes a mix of adult and children’s books, fiction and non-fiction, classic and modern works all recommended by specific editors.

If you are currently boycotting Amazon but still looking for a way to access an e-book version or have a hardcopy delivered to you, try Bookshop.  It gives you the convenience of online browsing for your books while supporting local bookstores.

Happy reading!

Remember, stay home; stay safe!
